Ontario Health and Safety Excellence program - key updates

WSIB’s Health and Safety Excellence program is flexible and meets businesses where they are on their health and safety journey The program provides rebates on WSIB premiums and digital badges featured on WSIBs Safety Check webpage for health and safety improvements including policies and procedures to address COVID-19.
The program includes a roadmap for pandemic readiness and recovery to guide and support businesses in building stronger health and safety programs to ensure they can ride the wave of the pandemic and beyond.
The roadmap helps businesses maintain operations safely and confidently and increase resiliency. It features pathways for different business needs and sizes, and guides through four key steps to recovering and rebuilding a health and safety program:
- Identify, assess and control hazards
- Resume and maintain operations
- Build resiliency and sustainability
- Evaluate and ensure continual improvement
Diana Rea is the Stakeholder Engagement Lead for the WSIB, she partners with industry associations and other key stakeholders to advance WSIB’s strategic goal of making Ontario healthier and safer. Prior to this role, Diana managed the team that designed the new Health and Safety Excellence program in collaboration with WSIB’s network of approved providers. Diana also formerly worked at the Ministry of Labour’s Prevention Office developing and implementing a system wide health and safety strategy for the province.
Yiting Lee is a Program Management Consultant at the WSIB. She graduated from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelors in Environmental Studies and has a passion for making tangible and positive impacts through her work. She has over five years of experience in program design, program and project management. Yiting was instrumental in the launch of the Health and Safety Excellence program. Prior to this role, Yiting managed a sustainability program at the City of Toronto.
