ACSESS is proud to announce its National Board of Directors to lead us in 2025-2026.
Bringing more than 30 years of staffing industry experience, Randy Upright, Chief Executive Officer, Manpower Services Alberta, will serve as National President for a two-year term. Since being elected to the National Board in 2007, Randy has been continuously engaged in our ethics and membership committees, as well as supporting various government relations initiatives. At the Chapter level, he's also served in various capacities. Randy currently chairs the Membership, Nomination and Chapter Presidents’ committees and works directly with the Ethics Committee.
A forward thinker, Randy is passionate about the staffing industry’s role in preparing the market with the skills it needs to thrive in today’s workplace and to pivot for future success. As a past Governor on the Southern Alberta Institution of Technology (SAIT)’s Board, Chair of its Real Futures campaign and a case writer entrusted to assess applicants to the University of Calgary’s medical school, he’s also dedicated to preparing post-secondary students for the ever changing world of work.
Randy says “I’m delighted to be appointed President of our national association and look forward to working with my exemplary fellow Board members. With change moving at an unprecedented pace, accelerated by technology, the staffing industry has never been more relevant to Canada’s businesses,” he explains. “Through our offering of talent and workforce solutions, we will continue to drive the economy, in step with the world of work’s transformation.”
He's dedicated to providing ACSESS members with the government relations, advocacy, professional development and resources they need to shape the future.
“Now more than ever, our key mandate is to represent the staffing industry’s interests to all levels of government on a wide range of policy issues and ensure members are aware of legislative and regulatory changes, which if implemented, may affect their business," explains Mary McIninch, our Executive Director, who also leads this work. In recent years, she has elevated this mandate to focus even more on government relations and policy on a national scale, due to its escalating importance to the industry. "Given our fluctuating economic climate and Canada's need to increase its domestic strength, I think this work will dominate the coming months," says Mary. "I look forward to working closely with Randy and the Board to navigate these unchartered waters," she adds.
“While some see these times as uncertain,” Randy believes, “we as an industry see this as a moment of opportunity and ACSESS will help ensure we are ready to seize it.”
The ACSESS National Board Executive includes representatives from throughout Canada and various industry sub-sectors, including professional search and placement agencies, temporary staffing, contract placements, multinational firms and those serving niche markets, as well as our Executive Director. Each appointed Board member will serve a one-year term, except Randy who will serve for two years.
Our national committee and sub-commitments will continue to monitor legislative developments in all provinces on a wide range of industry specific policy issues.
