Introduction

In this Fall edition of our newsletter, we're excited to share some exciting updates. As a member of ACSESS, you have aligned your company with a community of peers who represent the best companies in staffing, recruiting and workforce solutions.

Following our June 2024 newsletter, ACSESS has continued to make the staffing industry's views known across various policy issues in several provinces. We have represented members on several public policy fronts, including industry licensing, rate reform consultations, pay transparency, employment standards and federal procurement. ACSESS has been focused on educating members on new licensing requirements for staffing and recruitment firms while working closely with government on some aspects of the new framework that require further consideration. As always, we are actively engaged and focused on relationship building with key government officials on a national scale.

ACSESS will continue to focus on 3 key areas of activity and growth for 2024/25:

•    Government Relations - Proactive advocacy in all provinces with a focus on relationship building in western provinces. Over the course of the summer months, ACSESS committees have been proactively meeting with key government officials in several provinces and at the federal level (PSPC) to address procurement related matters.
•    Continued focus on new membership development with grass roots engagement/recruitment campaigns in most provinces. We are working closely with new chapter leaders to expand our representation in Alberta, Manitoba, BC and Atlantic provinces.
•    New prevention initiatives in the area of health and safety – we continue to meet with provincial workers compensations boards as we look to expand the very successful Ontario Excellence program offering to other provinces.

Because of the unique attributes of staffing and recruitment in Canada, a major focus of the association’s advocacy is to proactively ensure that employment laws do not impede staffing agency operations or unnecessarily increase costs, which could reduce labor market flexibility.
With the incredible support of our chapter leaders, ACSESS welcomed over 600 staffing and recruitment firms to our most recent educational sessions hosted for members in Ontario and Quebec. We look forward to hosting several educational sessions in western provinces later this Fall.

Our membership committee continues to collaborate and roll our recruitment initiatives across the country. ACSESS is proud to represent over 85% of industry operating revenues on a national scale and have welcomed over 20 new corporate and affiliate members over the course of the summer months!

I want to take this opportunity to thank our staff and all our dedicated volunteers (national, chapter and committee leaders) for your continued leadership and support.

Mary McIninch
Executive Director, Government Relations/Directrice Générale
