Statistics Canada released a new article which provides a snapshot of the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on some of the hardest hit service industries.
The article, “Fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic: A look back at selected industries in the service sector in 2020”, examines the wide range of challenges that industries in the service sector may have experienced due to the pandemic, such as mandatory shutdowns, border closures and stay-at-home orders.
The paper looks at the estimates of operating revenue in 2020 for service industries, including key professional, business and administrative-support services in Canada that traditionally have weathered recessions.
